Christmas is almost here! With a preschooler and baby in our home I know just how tempting it can be to go overboard with gifts to place under the tree. Just ask your child what they received for Christmas last year and I can almost guarantee you that they will not be able to remember most of what you spent your hard earned money on. Our family has chosen an alternative to the overspending and filling our home with more "stuff". My husband and I have decided to provide our children with long lasting family memories. If you live in the Hampton Roads area I can't think of a better place to celebrate Christmas and create some of your own special memories than Christmas Town at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Our family made our first trip to Christmas Town recently and had a fantastic time. Busch Gardens does an amazing job creating a magical Christmas experience. The moment you walk through the gates your senses are greeted with all the best experiences of the season. You'll see numerous beautiful light displays throughout the park, over 6 million lights to be exact. As you stroll beneath the twinkling lights you can smell the many Christmas trees that line the paths. That smell is something I had forgotten about as an artificial tree owner but brought back my own childhood memories. There is also of course Christmas music playing throughout the park. In the Holiday Hills section you can sing along with classics as you spin in teacups or greet a snowman and gingerbread man. In the Germany section you can watch the very popular stage show Deck The Halls, one of four live shows to choose from. If you want to get your adrenaline pumping I suggest riding the new roller coaster, Verbolten. My husband and I utilized the child swap program so we could both ride it. (twice) It's a great option if you have small children with you. One of my favorite shows of the night was, A Sesame Street Christmas. It features all of the kids favorite characters dancing, singing, and exploring the true meaning of Christmas. The look of happiness on my 10 month old son's face as he clapped his little chubby hands was priceless. Of course no trip to Christmas Town would be complete until you make a stop at the North Pole to visit Santa, Mrs.Claus and their elves. Children and kids at heart can have their picture taken with Santa and also enjoy the "snow" that falls just outside his magical workshop. Our family had an amazing night! Christmas Town at Busch Gardens will definitely be added to our list of family Christmas traditions :) To purchase tickets and plan your trip please check out the website below. http://seaworldparks.com/en/buschgardens-williamsburg/ * I received complementary admission for review purposes.
