there were several shows this weekend Ice promises a great show and this time they certainly delivered.
Last night was opening night and the show continues throgh Sunday, with three performances on Saturday and Sunday..
The princesses continue to be a focus of their shows, but it is no wonder, they are a great show on ice.
The music and costumes were outstanding
Those who made an appearance are Ariel, Rapunzel Merida and Belle. Mickey, Minnie, Donald and
Goofy act as announcers.
The performers make it all look so easy to skate, dance and thrill.
Our daughter Charlotte, 10, thought the Little Mermaid performance, which I agree was one of the
best. There were several skaters playing her sisters and the incorporated the under the sea theme with
special effects. I enjoyed the costumes of all the skaters with the special lighting.
Of course I liked it when they song Just Kiss the Girl was played and skated to by Ariel and the prince.
How romantic.
Our eight-year-old daughter, Julia, enjoyed the scenes from Brave. This was a particularly enjoyable in
two ways, the horse and the ice dancing. The horse is on all fours and on skates. How two people walk in
that costume, much less skate, is amazing.
They also did a Scottish dance on the ice. I enjoy folk dancing of all kinds. It was hard to take my eyes off
of the skaters/dancers. Plus there are some special effects.
The Beauty and Beast portion which is one of the final numbers was quite grand with plenty of drama,
singing dancing, fun, sets and great costumes.
My husband also enjoyed the Brave portion, especially the contest of archery. He has not seen the
movie yet.
I enjoyed the Tangled portion the best. The skater’s solo was quite remarkable.
I will say if you are planning to attend, this is not a show for really small children. Many seemed bored in
the second half. Plus the evening shows start at 7:30 p.m. when many are usually in bed.
And now that my daughters are in upper elementary, we all enjoy going a bit early sitting outside by the
fountain was watching the parade of little girls dressed up like their favorite princess.
Another aspect to keep in mind is seating. The first 10 seats closes to the ice are folding chairs with no
arm rest. Seating next to someone you don’t know is a bit uncomfortable. During the intermission I
sat behind my family because there were several empty seats together. That area is also on temporary
steps so you feel every move another person is making.
Overall I would highly recommend Disney on Ice. We cannot wait until next year.
