The purpose of this group is to give local moms a place to share the joys, trials, and triumphs of the wonder we call pregnancy. We can share advice, tell our stories, and have a shoulder to lean on.

Expecting first

first time mom

Hi, I just moved here with my husband. I am due in the middle of September. I was wondering a few things, first- are there any expectant mom groups in the area to help with meeting people? And also, I was looking at some of the child birthing classes available at the hospitals, are they really helpful? My sister didn't take any classes and had her baby fine and quick! Looking forward to chatting with everyone!

hey - im a first time mom too, and we are due end of october, how is everything going for you, im looking to do some of the classes too but not sure which one or where. hope to hear from you soon

welcome!

I haven't had a baby in Virginia since 1998 (military mom, kids born all over the country :) but I'm sure you'll get some great advice on the site about groups to help with meeting others. I'd recommend a moms club based on your baby's birth year. I joined one with my middle child and 8 years later am still friends with some of the mothers from that group.

I did take a lamaze class with my first born at Virginia Beach General, and the class itself was a great introduction, a place to find out everything I was feeling and worrying about was normal, and to meet other moms as well.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope much brighter days are coming your way. I like Dr. Whibley in Norfolk. She talks with her patients after every check up -- in her office, after you're dressed!

Hi ladies, my name is victoria i have a three year old daughter and i'm expecting a baby boy in june...we have recently moved here to norfolk from pensacola and i'm having the worst time finding a lamaze class!!! i thught that taking a lamaze class would be a great way to bond with my husband and to teach him how to support me during the labor (obviously the first time was a lil rocky) and to even meet some new friends who are going to be in the same boat as us. i saw the naval medical center offers one for upwards of $70.00 but i was just wondering i i had any options...HELP!

2nd time mommy

I have a 5 y/o daughter that just started school and I have a son due in February. I have been told that no 2 pregnancies are alike, but let me tell you! This one couldn't be more of a polar opposite than the 1st. I'm new to this Tidewater Moms thing, but am very interested in getting to know people and broadening my daughters' friendships. Especially since I have another one on the way, I don't at any point want my daughter to feel left out. I don't know how to go about it, but I'm trying to plan a trip to the Hunt Club's Haunted Hayride for children around my daughter's age that like to be scared, haha. My daughter has gone almost every year since she was born and LOVES it. If anyone is interested, please let me know.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

How are you holding up with the heat? I remember being about 10 degrees hotter than everyone else when I was pregnant. I put the AC on 68 degrees. My poor husband!

Glad to meet you!

It appears that no one has posted anything yet, so I guess I will be the first. Greetings! When is everyone due? Is this your 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. child? Where in Virginia are you located? I am due in October with my first, and we live in Virginia Beach. Glad to meet everyone!

Hello

Nice to meet you also

I am due in October as well. October 8th, which would be my 5 yr wedding anniversary. This is my second child. I already have a 4yo daugther and am expecting a boy. This should be my last. I live in Virginia Beach as well.
