Fun This Weekend and Beyond

Looking for some fun this last week in January. So far the weather has been mild.

The Virginia Aquarium on Virginia Beach is offering Winter Wildlife Boat Trips until March 18. Climb aboard a 65-catamarna, choosing between the warm cabin or outside (or both) to view various wildlife that live in the area. A wildlife educator provides information along the way. Everything from blue hrons to whales might be spotted.

The Visions of the Universe exhibit at the Grissom Libary in Newport News will end next month. It is a chance to to see how the astronomy has developed over the past 400 years.

A discussion for teens and adults about our nation's debt will be Jan. 31 at at the Oberndorf Library in Virginia Beach. It will begin at 7 p.m. might be interesting to hear what teens have to say about this issue.

Groundhog day is Feb. 2 and the Virginia Living Museum celebrates it in their own way with Groundhog Night beginning at 6:30 p.m. The Whistle Pig (their groundhog) will visit along with special games and activites. The price is $5 for adults and $4 for children with special discount for members. Assignment Earth will show in the planetarium at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. That show is an addition $2 per person.
