New to this!!
I am new to this site as of today! My husband is in the Coast Guard and he just found out a few weeks ago that he is going to be getting stationed at NAS Oceana Dam Neck! We will be moving to the area in the middle of December! We are still in the process of trying to find a place to live.. it is definitely harder than I thought it was going to be!! Well I just wanted to introduce myself.. are there any other Coastie wives out there!?

Navy wife here as well :O) I was raised in Newport News and have always avoided Virginia Beach because of the costs, lol. Hope you find something soon and welcome to the neighborhood!! I'm sure you'll love the area, there is SO much to do here :)

I'm new here too! I wanted to give you a heads up about the area. I just went thru the process of trying to find a home here, it was hard. Virginia Beach is "you get what you pay for" kind of area!! So if you're trying to get by cheap you're going to get a bad area. I live in a very safe neighborhood with very little traffic, very safe for the kids and we're right off the main highway! 15 min to Oceana and 20 to Dam Neck!! ( My husband is at Oceana) Is your husband already here? Have you ever been to Va Beach? Let me know if you have any questions or I can even scope out an area if you want!! I know how hard it is to find a good place here without paying an arm and a leg!! I'd love to help let me know!!

Thank you very much!! It seems like it is taking FOREVER to find a place to live!! Our BAH is only $1315 or something like that so I obviously don't want to go over that because I want to have money for all of our other bills! I am not working so it makes things pretty tight! If you know of anything for rent in the area definitely let me know! My husband is going to look at a few places this weekend.. he is actually in Yorktown right now attending A-School! I am not too far away.. I am in Culpeper up near DC staying with my sister.. still almost a 4 hour drive to there though! Thanks so much for you help!!

Hope you find a nice place! It might be easier, if this isn't going to be "home", to just try military housing, they have just built a whole bunch of new places.
