See Disney On Ice

Disney on Ice is coming to the Hampton Coliseum next week and we are very excited to see this show for the sixth time.

Every year it is something different and every year my daughters, husband and I are thrilled to see it. The show is not only ice skating, but has plots, fabulous music and costumes along with some of the best skaters in the world performing all kinds of tricks.

This year’s title Rockin’ Ever After is a remix of Disney stories with the most adventurous heroines. Produced by Feld Entertainment it features upbeat music and energetic choreography, according to information provided.

Mickey and Minnie encounter the most talented performers in the land with an all-star lineup that includes Sebastian and the Daughters of Triton from The Little Mermaid, the rowdy pub thugs from Tangled and the spunky enchanted servants from Beauty and the Beast. The journey continues to the Scottish highlands where audiences will be captivated this summer’s newcomer character Merida of Brave.

I have never been one to sing the praises of a big business enterprise like Disney, especially one that goes after kids, but this show is different.

The fun usually begins with a visit from Mickey and Minnie Mouse skating out onto the ice. Walking in those costumes would be difficult for me, but these folks are skating in them.

I guess I am so amazed because I have been ice skating one time in my life. It was a date in college and it wasn’t pretty. Needless to say that relationship did not last.

Another aspect that keeps us going back is the costumes and the sets. They are a wonder in themselves. We try to get there a little early to get some pictures of our daughters standing near the ice.

There are several shows with opening night being Wed. Sept. 26 at Hampton Coliseum and continues the rest of the week. The prices vary according to the seat, but there is not a bad seat in the house. In fact, sitting a bit high in the Coliseum allows for a full view. I will be reviewing the show on my blog in the morning one week from today.
