Tragedy at Sandy Hook

When I thought, "what am I going to write about today?" There was really only one topic I could or should write about. It's something I could never have imagined I would be writing about, the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary. As I sat in tears watching the news coverage on Friday all I could think is, how could this have happened? And to children so young and innocent... It's heartbreaking. As tragic as it is I had to quickly pull myself together, wipe the tears away and put on a happy face for my children. I was nursing my youngest as I learned the news. I gave him a dozen extra kisses then went to my 4 yr old and hugged him tight. They are far too young to know what has happened. We have been extra cautious in our home about what channels we watch when they are awake. We only watch the news when the boys are asleep. We're fortunate that because they are so young we won't have to have the tough conversations that many parents will be faced with. I'm praying for those affected of course but also for those of you with older children and especially my friends and family members who are teachers. I hope you find the words to comfort and reassure your loved ones and students.
