Watching my kids figure out who they are
For me, there is nothing cooler as a parent than seeing my children discover what excites them and makes them happy. My older son has always gravitated to music, and since starting piano lessons a year ago he can easily spend hours a day playing (although granted, getting him to practice what he's supposed to practice isn't easy). He is now getting into guitar. My younger boy has become a sports junkie. His answer to what his favorite sport is would be: whatever is in season. He has gone from football to basketball and now to baseball, practicing himself even when he's the only person playing and tuning into every meaningful and meaningless game he can find on TV. Recently he discovered how to turn on the TV and find SportsCenter on his own in the morning (which has been fabulous for my abililty to sleep a bit more, or sneak in a workout).
My kids could not be more different, and they are finding things that make their eyes light up with just a little help from me. I am seeing that it is their journey - I'm just here to expose them to opportunities and keep them safe and healthy along the way.
